Project details — Glacier Tile
Tile and stone, up close.
A closer look at the edges, patterns, openings and material junctions in our work. These photographs show finished details alongside clearly identified installation stages.
Veining & surfaces
Read the material across the whole surface.
Strong veining makes the layout part of the architecture of a room.
This stone shower photograph shows the material during installation. The orientation of each panel and the way the pattern meets at a junction are visible parts of the result.
Layout, openings and edges are considered before cutting so that each piece relates to the next.
Openings & edges
A small junction can carry the detail.
A niche brings several surfaces together in a small area.
The shelf, the surrounding wall tile and the opening need to relate to one another. The material change is a design decision as well as an installation detail.
Discussing these junctions early leaves room to consider the cut, the pattern and the way the edges meet.
Pattern & alignment
Keep the pattern connected.
Repeating patterns make alignment easy to read.
This floor photograph was taken during installation, with leveling clips visible. The pattern needs to continue across individual pieces and relate to the boundaries of the room.
Edges, thresholds and changes of direction are part of the layout, rather than decisions left until the final tile.
